Hybrids are often a natural next step for gas boiler installers to venture into the world of heat pumps.
Hybrids remove many of the constraints associated with the application of stand-alone heat pumps in existing buildings, using a heat pump for low temperature heat while depending on the power of a regular boiler for high-temperature heat when needed. On colder days, the boiler can provide additional heat when needed, helping to maintain comfort throughout the year. Field tests show that the heat pump part of hybrid systems covers a considerable amount of annual heat demand.
Consequently, hybrids significantly reduce gas consumption and CO2 emissions compared to a natural gas boiler.
