BDR Thermea opens future-ready manufacturing facility in Slovakia

BDR Thermea has opened a new manufacturing facility in Vranov nad Topľou, Slovakia, marking an important step in strengthening its European manufacturing footprint and supporting the long-term growth of sustainable heating solutions.

The site will produce components for heat pump-based systems—one of the key technologies driving the decarbonisation of heating in Europe. Designed as a flexible, multi-product facility, it enables BDR Thermea to adapt to evolving market demand while preparing for future growth.

Investing with confidence in the energy transition
The new facility reflects BDR Thermea’s long-term commitment to the energy transition. While the European heat pump market is currently experiencing short-term fluctuations, driven by economic conditions and policy dynamics, the long-term direction remains the same.

“The direction of the energy transition is clear,” said Tjarko Bouman, CEO of BDR Thermea. “While the market is not developing in a straight line, we remain confident in the long-term growth of sustainable heating solutions. Investments like this ensure we are ready to meet future demand.”

Strengthening a flexible European manufacturing network
The Vranov site plays a key role in BDR Thermea’s integrated European manufacturing network, which continues to evolve to meet changing market conditions. As a multi-product facility, it increases flexibility and enables a more efficient allocation of production across Europe.

This investment is part of the company’s broader efforts to optimise and modernise its manufacturing footprint, ensuring it remains resilient, competitive and future-ready.

“The strength of this facility lies in its flexibility,” said Luigi La Morgia, CTOO of BDR Thermea. “It allows us to align with current market conditions while ensuring we are ready to scale when demand increases, as part of a strong and balanced manufacturing presence across Europe.”

A future-ready factory built for growth
The Vranov facility is a modern, next-generation manufacturing site with advanced automation and fully integrated digital systems. It is designed for flexible production, a phased ramp-up aligned with market demand, and the ability to scale as the market grows.

The factory operates on green electricity and produces zero CO₂ emissions in its operations. At the same time, BDR Thermea is investing in developing local talent through training, upskilling, and collaboration with educational partners. This supports the capabilities needed for the future of sustainable manufacturing.
