BDR Thermea endorses European Heating Industry roadmap to carbon-neutral buildings

EHI published its Vision 2030-2050 roadmap to climate neutrality on 21 September. The roadmap revolves around seven policy areas, include accelerating the modernisation of old and inefficient heating installations; promoting electric, hybrid and gas heat pumps; and enabling and promoting the digitalisation of heating systems. 

In her recent State of the Union speech, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called for the EU’s emissions reduction target to be increased to 55% by 2030, up from the 40% previous target. The recently-unveiled European Climate Plan sets out the EU’s strategic priorities to get there, with particular emphasis on the persistent challenge of decarbonising our buildings.  

EHI is urging the European Commission to act quickly to bring its newly unveiled Climate Plan to fruition with decisive policy measures – and to ensure that the COVID-19 crisis does not undermine climate action progress to date.
